Our story

Good Middling Candles began with a conversation between our founder and his five-year-old son, James, about working hard, being creative, and making something meaningful to share with others. That spark led us into the world of candle making, where we discovered a shared love for the craft and the joy of building something together by hand.

Inspired by James’ curiosity and our family’s love of thoughtful, well-made goods, we started making candles in our Mississippi kitchen. What began as a weekend project quickly turned into a small business built on quality, care, and craftsmanship.

At Good Middling, we create luxury candles using 100% soy wax, clean-burning wicks, and elevated fragrance blends designed to evoke a sense of place and tradition. Our name is a nod to Greenwood’s rich cotton heritage, where “Good Middling” represents the highest quality grade—and that’s exactly the standard we strive for in every candle we make.
